In the heart of the Perigord Vert, lie the tranquil and secluded cottages of “Les Rapaces”.  Surrounded by lush valleys, sun-dappled woodlands, rippling streams and picturesque villages, Les Rapaces consists of three self-contained stone gites in their own 6 acres of ground, including a pretty woodland and stream, swimming pool and boules pitch.   Situated close to the village of Sarrazac, these gites are well placed to explore the north Dordogne and the south Haute Vienne regions.   The Correze is easily reached as well.

Brantome, the Venice of Perigord is close by.  The surrounding unspoilt forests are famous for cepe mushrooms and truffles which feature on the menus in the local restaurants.  Historic Thivier, with its Saturday morning market, offers the opportunity to buy local delicacies.  Slightly further away, but within easy reach, is Perigueux with its cathedral and medieval shopping streets.

If you are seeking a relaxing setting with plenty of amenities nearby, then these comfortable properties are for you. The three traditional romantic stone houses offer contemporary comfort away from mass tourism.  They are comfortably furnished and provide a high level of holiday amenities to encourage guests to relax.  The largest property (Le Hibou) is a detached house for 7 people.  The other houses (La Buse and Le Faucon) can accommodate 4 and 5 people each respectively and have been created from an old barn although each has its own private terrace and garden.  The setting is ideal for three families and for those seeking peace and quiet, as well as the cultural and outdoor activities to be found nearby.  The large garden and meadow are the location of many recreational facilities, which include a large pool with roman steps, loungers, BBQs, boules piste , table tennis table and badminton net.  Fishing and golf are nearby.  

Budget airlines fly to nearby Limoges and Bergerac airports from Stansted, Liverpool, Manchester, East Midlands and Southampton (Ryanair from £4.99 plus tax each way and Flybe). It is possible to secure a car hire from the airport making a week's holiday with us easily achievable. We can supply towels at small extra cost (5 euros per person) so that you don't waste your baggage allowance on these items

Agugnac - Dordogne, Aquitaine (France)

The gites are situated in the heart of the Natural Regional Park of Perigord-Limousin, in the Perigord Vert, known for its landscape of trees and water, quiet and peaceful. It offers swimming lakes with beaches, possibilities for aquatic sport, various historic sights (Richard the Lionheart route) and excellent restaurant and cafes offering regional dishes (truffles from Sorges) in the area.  It takes 30 to 45 minutes to drive to Perigueux, Brantome or Limoges.

Leisure activities

Les Rapaces is perfectly situated to explore the heritage of the region, with its medieval villages and cities such as Perigueux (Cathedrale St Front) and Sarlat (Cité Medievale), castles (Jumilhac-le-Grand, Puyguilhelm and Hautefort), prehistoric caves (Grottes de Villars and Lascaux), weekly markets, wine markets (Bergerac).  It is also within easy reach of watersports facilities, swimming lakes (Rouffiac) and rivers (canoeing at Brantome).  There are 8 nine and eighteen hole courses in the vicinity (notably the clubs at Perigueux and Siorac).  In addition there are opportunities for cycling, fishing, horse riding, mountain biking, roller blading, surfing, tennis, walking, water skiing, wind surfing and rock climbing.

Golf information

In the Dordogne and the Limousin there are several possibilities for golfing.  In the Perigord Vert you will find 8 golf courses (9/18 holes), with two in Perigueux (Golf Club de Perigueux/18 holes) and Siorac (Golf de Lolivariel/9 holes).

Le Hibou: A spacious house with bright rooms.  It has its own large, mature and intimate garden, a covered terrace with an idyllic view, table and chairs, and BBQ.  It has a wealth of exposed beams and natural stone walls.  There are 3 bedrooms; one with double and single beds, one with double bed and one with two single bunk beds, one of which has french windows leading to a large balcony with panoramic views.  The homely living room features a wood burning stove, SatelliteTV (with DVD) and library.  The large and bright kitchen is fully equipped with stove, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave and fridge; and there is a separate dining room which also gives access to the covered terrace.  There is central heating throughout.   More Pictures - Le Hibou

A security deposit of 250 Euro or £175 is payable with the balance and will be returned within 2weeks of your return, subject to any deductions.

Water and electricity costs are included within the rental charge.  Heating can be provided during the winter, but will be charged according to the type of fuel used and the amount consumed.

Because of the secluded nature of the site, guests are recommended to be in possession of their own transport.

La Buse: This cosy holiday home has its own private garden surrounded by trees and shrubs, a covered terrace with lighting, BBQ, tables and chairs.  There are two bedrooms; one double and one with two single beds. The large living room has exposed beams and satellite TV, dining area and spacious sitting area that includes a bed settee that can sleep two people.  The well equipped kitchen contains all necessary utensils and microwave.  There are two WCs, one with shower.  The washing machine, spin-dryer, additional freezer and fridge, leisure and recreational items are located in the barn that stands between la Buse and Le Faucon. The beamed and stone-walled living room incorporates a dining area capable of seating all guests, and a sitting area that has a bed settee that can sleep two and satellite TV.  The kitchen is of modern design and has all necessary facilities as well as a microwave.  The washing machine, spin-dryer, additional freezer and fridge, leisure and recreational items are located in the barn that stands between this property and La Buse.
